Biography

Born in Belgrade on August 21, 1961. Completed elementary schooling in Novi Sad and secondary school in Sremski Karlovci (1980). Graduated from the Philosophy Faculty, Novi Sad, in 1985 with the average grade 8.52 and graduation thesis: "The Absolute – among the Fundamental Human Needs (Religion, Mystics, Magic)".

He took his post-graduate studies in the field of contemporary philosophy at the Belgrade University, where he defended his MA dissertation titled "The Problem of Personality in the Early Works of Lukacz (1900-1929)" at Faculty of Political Sciences. At the same Faculty, in 1991, he defended his Ph.D. dissertation under the tittle of "Civil Individual and the Utopia of Society of Reason ".

Since 1986, he is a reader at the Faculty of Civil Defense, University of Belgrade, courses: Sociology, Introduction to Philosophy and Ethics. Elected for the position of Docent for Sociology course in March 1992. Two years later elected for the position of Docent for Philosophy course at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Belgrade. Since 1994, he is an associate of the Institute for Political Studies, Belgrade. Elected to the position of the Associate Professor of the University of Belgrade for Sociology course in 1996. Nowadays, V. Cvetkovic teaches Introduction to Philosophy at the Faculty of Political Studies and History of Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad.

Participant of numerous scientific conferences, symposia and congresses in the field of philosophy and political sociology. Contributes to numerous expert magazines in the country and abroad. Since 1994, he has been the editor-in-chief of the interdisciplinary magazine for political theory - "Srpska politička misao" (Serbian Political Thought). Member of the Executive Board of the Serbian Philosophical Association and of the Sociological Association of Serbia. Uses English, Russian and German. Lives in Belgrade.
